A beautiful day again. A bit hotter than yesterday, but with a gentle breeze. Still very pleasant though.

It was quiet, a sort of rest day. I went out with the farmers and looked at their paddy fields, I was able to suggest a slightly more efficient way of controlling the irrigation flow. I know now why they wear so much blue around here. One of the plants they do grow produces a blue die -its not a particularly bright dye, but they still manage to export some. The most exciting find was the Greater Spotted Bracket Fungus. It grows on a lot of the trees in the swampier parts of the area, and they hadn't realised that it was edible. It won't make a great impact on their exports but might add to their diet somewhat. I explained that if they harvested it with a knife, as close to the tree as they could get, they would encourage it to grow faster. I understand that some of them are already staking out trees to harvest.

And Madelyn is in a sulk. Apparently she went off on her own and isn't talking to anyone. Still who can understand these warrior women?
